2024A problem that couldn't wait.
By 2024, Starlink Mini was how units in Ukraine stayed connected. The terminal was never the problem. Keeping it on the truck was. Dishes slid around, came off on the highway, cracked when a wheel dropped into a rut at speed.
There were mounts out there. They were built for a parked van, a flat roof, and an owner with time and both hands free. That wasn't the job.
So the spec came from the road. Hold on a moving vehicle with nobody watching it. On and off in seconds, one person, gloves on, in the dark, no tools. Add almost no weight and almost no height. And stay out of the dish's way.
The seconds part had nothing to do with convenience. The crews running them couldn't stand next to a vehicle any longer than they had to. Turns out that's the part civilians like most. Within months we were shipping to truckers, farmers and families running roads where the signal quits between towns. Off at night, on in the morning, on a different rig in under a minute. Different reasons, same ask.
None of it got softened later. This housing had a job before it had a brand.
2025From a bench to a production line.
Feedback came in nonstop, off the highway and out of the fields, and every note went straight back into the product. Not once a year. See something worth fixing, fix it.
Over twelve months the housing changed in the details trust is made of. All hardware went stainless. The magnets are top grade neodymium, the kind that hold when the truck is running hard on a beat up road, not just when it's parked in a driveway. And the fit got dialed in until the terminal drops into the housing like it was molded around it. No play, no shims, no rattle at speed.
While that was happening we were building something we didn't have before. A real production line. A standard for every step, every batch checked, unit one thousand coming out the same as unit one hundred. Everything needed for the install ships in the box, with the instructions filmed, so it's minutes from opening it to a mount sitting on the roof.
By the end of the year there were thousands of housings in service, and that number keeps climbing.
2026Today. New roads.
Right now our housings are on vehicles belonging to people with nothing alike about their days. Military units. Rescue crews. Farmers. Hauliers. Companies moving people and freight. Families driving halfway across the country. For some of them it's the job, for others it's peace of mind, and every one of them needs the same thing: a terminal that keeps them connected when it matters.
The first housings have already gone out to overlanders in the States. They write us about the same things our own customers do. The fit, the magnets, how little time it takes.
There are three things we're boring about: quality, reliability, and how simple it is to install. That isn't a brand value. It's a habit picked up where a mount coming loose meant losses.
Now these housings are heading down roads we've never seen, with people we've never met. We'll only see most of those trips if someone sends a photo. For something that started for an entirely different reason, that's the best thing that could have happened to it.
